Navarathiri is celebrated for nine consecutive days almost every part of the world. It is a combination of many concepts; the triumph of Lord Rama defeating Ravana in Ramayana, and the destruction of the demon Mahishasura by Goddess Durga. However, the common theme remains the victory of good over evil. Rama Githaanjali, a dance drama, experimenting the Navarasa or the nine expressions that are seen in the various parts of the Ramayana, was showcased in conjunction with TKI’s 8th Annual Navarathiri Festival. Only one dancer accompanied with live music performed this challenging attempt involving 21 roles in Ramayana. Another interesting feature to note about this performance was the use of creative music technology to accompany the usual classic arrangements.
