In conjunction with TKI’s 45th Anniversary, the school presented the ‘Sri Ayyappa Swamy Dance Drama’, an extravagant production with original music composition featuring more than 60 dancers performing to a mix of innovative stage lighting and amazing theatrical designs. With music recorded in India using the latest improvements in sound technology, and vibrant costumes as well as backdrop exclusively flown in from India, the storyline showcases the Purana (life story) of Lord Ayyappa, a handsome prince who enchants his subjects with his miraculous powers. This dance drama provides both as an informational and spiritual resource, as it portrays the divine birth of Lord Ayyappa till the building of his temple in Sabarimalai, Kerala in India.
Another interesting feature of the production cast is the involvement of a one and half month old baby who starred as the baby Manikandan. The dancers ranged from infant to 60 years of age and the whole production team consisted of 150 people.
